Tall
Teens and Kids
Readergirlz April 2007 Manifesta
To all Tall Young Women:
Happy National POETRY Month!
Poetry is an incredible form
to carry emotion, present ideas, and challenge us to think
in new ways.
Poetry inspires us
to gutsy action.
And poetry is a perfect way
to tell a story about a gutsy, tall girl.
Clare, from On Pointe
is an example
of gutsy perseverance
in the face of
a life-long dream dying.
She stands up,
discovers,
and defines herself
to begin again.
And those around her
can’t help but be affected.
As seen in On Pointe,
girls and women
are bombarded by the media's
definition of beauty.
We need to help ourselves
and our friends
reject their narrow,
impossible
definition.
The NY Times reported,
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/01/us/01girls.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
teens believe they have to be
Hot and Smart.
Let's shout out
the truth, tall girls.
HOT IS
beauty in
all sizes and shapes!
Gutsy girls like Clare
refuse to accept the norms.
They will dance no matter how tall,
no matter who tries to stop them.
Take time for your body.
Eat healthy,
exercise,
and don’t believe the magazine imagery.
Define beauty
as you.
Stop by
http://groups.myspace.com/readergirlz
to share your own experience
as a tall woman.
Stand tall!
