Tall women of the world know that some adjustments need to be made in life to ensure absolute comfort. That includes planning a wedding. There’s so much to think about, from the perfect dress to the ideal venue, and you need to ensure everything fits properly and that the photos look stunning. So, if you’re planning for your big day as a tall woman, here are some useful preparation tips.
1. Choose a High Ceiling Venue
Many of the most beautiful wedding venues offer high ceilings, as this creates a more classic, timeless, and almost royal-like affair. As a tall woman, it goes a step further, as it gives you the space for stunning pictures. A bridal venue with a tall ceiling will also mean you are less likely to have to duck through restricted doorframes. The space will be airy, ensuring you feel anything but claustrophobic on your big day. Plus, a beautiful venue like this will often have additional features like marble accents and grand entrances.
As well as a high ceiling, you can also look for a wider aisle and a higher ceremony arch to give you more room to stand tall and look elegant.
2. Focus on the Bodice
When it comes to the wedding dress, remember that you can always order extra fabric to add length to the gown. This is a lot easier when adding it to the hem. What you really want to get right early on is the bodice, especially if you have a particularly long torso. A-line bodices or ones with dropped waists look particularly beautiful on tall brides. Of course, don’t forget to try on wedding dresses in person so you can get a true feel for each dress.
3. Choose Longer, Looser Locks
If you want to avoid adding height to your overall wedding day look, then keep your hair down. You can either straighten your hair or add some soft waves, depending on your hair’s natural texture. Doing this will ensure the hair itself doesn’t add more height!
4. Practice Those Poses
It’s quite common for brides to practice wedding-day posing before the big day! After all, these are the pictures you will look back on for many years to come.
When practicing, you can figure out which poses look best for yourself and your other half. For example, if they are shorter than you, you can play around with poses (such as having them closer to the camera) to make you both look similar in height. Remember that you should absolutely embrace your tallness, though – shrinking yourself will never look good in photos! If you do have some insecurities about your height, remember to tell them to your photographer, who can adapt their style.
5. Choose a Dramatic Floor-Length Veil and/or Gown
Truly embrace your height by making it stand out with a floor-length veil and/or gown. Your tall height is not something to hide, especially on a day as important as your wedding. It’s a beautiful feature, and a long veil or gown will make your appearance more exciting and dramatic. Your silhouette will look beautiful when walking down the aisle!
