    eShakti

A fresh concept in fashion - customization

eShakti believes that all women have the right to wear affordable fashion that is made for them and makes them look their absolute best.

    Our Story

eShakti began as a small website offering basic cottons and modestly embellished pieces. As we grew, we were tasked with providing design and fit solutions to meet our customers' needs. Today, we are an international fashion design company making custom clothing. Offering both style and fit customization for women size 0 through 36 is the heart of our business.

    How do we stack up?

To simply put it, custom clothing does not have to be expensive. By keeping up with technology as it is advancing, we are able to provide customization at a modest cost. Our design teams are based in New York, California and India which gives us a diverse fashion perspective. Our clothing is made in India in our own factories and in local factories that produce some of the leading brands at retail. We do not stock any sizes. Since each style - whether standard sized, custom styled or custom sized - is cut to order, we do not have to warehouse our merchandise. Therefore, you will notice that every style requires your height measurement, whether you are customizing or not. This ensures you a "truer" fit. We ship directly to you. That helps us to keep our fashion affordable.

Our Customer Service teams are based on both the east and west coasts in the US. You can reach us between 8 AM and 4 PM PST, Monday through Friday, by calling our toll free number 1-855-374-2584 (1-855-ESH-AKTI). If our lines are busy, kindly leave a message and we will return your call within a day.

Ground Floor: Tall Fashion Start Up

Finding the right fit as a tall woman is a challenge to say the least. In any given garment, the waist, sleeves and hemline is too short. Because the industry treats “tall” as one-size-fits-all, those of us 5'11" and taller are left tugging, slouching and hiding our fashion struggle. Our tailors are on speed dial because we have no other option. The hassle of getting everything tailored is an entirely new set of challenges in our busy days.

The Weather Up Here Co. is a tall woman’s virtual tailor and capsule wardrobe. We help women pinpoint their perfect fit from their phone, order the staple pieces that build a fabulous wardrobe and - ultimately - help women stand tall, walk proud, wear what fits and rule the world.

    Height Goddess

Tall women's pants and jeans with up to 40 inch inseams.

Historically, finding tall clothing for women has been a disappointing experience. Retailers typically cater to the average woman, leaving us with clothes that just aren't long enough, age appropriate or flattering. This became my story. All too many times I found myself settling for ill-fitted clothing or worse, men's clothing! Because of my own personal shopping horrors, I was convinced I wasn't the only frustrated tall woman.I created HEIGHT GODDESS, a contemporary line for women measuring over 5'9".

In 2007, with no formal fashion training I sought out to find experienced industry professionals to assist me in developing premium denim for tall women. For over two years, I continuously worked to ensure each style embodied the confidence and beauty of a tall, fashion- forward woman who is innovative and timeless. All of our garments are designed in house and proportioned for women 5'9" & taller. I am proud to say that HG garments are Made in the USA. After a few seasons the collection has grown to include dresses for tall women, tall pants for women and tops for tall women.

Through fashion, I hope to inspire women to love their height, embrace their uniqueness and spread the same confidence to others. Remember, always BE STYLISH. BE CONFIDENT. BE YOU.

  • How Frame Denim Is Making Jeans Downright Glamorous

    Eric Wilson Oct 13, 2017 @ 9:00 am

Perched at their usual spot in the lobby of The Mercer hotel in New York's SoHo, Jens Grede and Erik Tortensson look like attractive bookends. The precise fit of their faux-worn-out jeans, Grede's slim T-shit, and Tortensson's grayed chambray shirt mark them as fashion insiders, obviously successful ones given that both are wearing Patek Philippe watches

Fast friends since they met nearly 20 years ago while breaking into the London publishing scene, the two Swedes have gone on to devise some of the most talked-about fashion endeavors of the past decade (they brought Justin Bieber to Calvin Klein, helped H&M introduce its COS concept, and launched the men's site Mr. Porter). They also started two magazines devoted to the beau monde and founded their own denim label, called Frame, five years ago. Their business is seduction, and their designs are catnip to an obsessive fan club that includes virtually every successful model today: Karlie Kloss, Lara Stone, and catwalk veteran Sasha Pivovarova, who appears in the shoot for this piece, among them.

The allure is simple. "Erik and I love good-looking things," Grede says. "We don't make things that are not flattering."

"Yes," adds Torstensson, "there's a very famous person in this industry who always asks us, 'When are you going to do something that is ugly?' But good-looking is what we like. We like beautiful women and men and environments—whatever they might be."

"If you have the privilege to work with people who are incredibly good-looking, why wouldn't you?" asks Grede. "It's like saying no to a cupcake. Why? It's delicious."

Earlier that morning Grede was contemplating this subject as he walked to the hotel from a nearby Equinox gym on Prince Street, a location that happens to be popular with beautiful people. "SoHo is the theater of New York," Grede says. "It gives you everything it promises in the movies." And for Grede and Torstensson, the store they opened this summer at 51 Greene Street has become their stage, a bright white box with an enormous, painstakingly weathered stone table and light boxes that display new Bruce Weber images of models with jeans wrapped around their heads.

"Historically, our job was to make other people famous, never ourselves," Torstensson says. After a few years working at Wallpaper magazine as kids, they formed Saturday Group, a creative firm that included a marketing agency (called Wednesday, now a part of Omnicom Group) and their own magazines, Man About Town and Industrie. As editors and as admen, and sometimes as photographers, they operated largely behind the scenes.

"We had a great education working for some of the best brands in the world." Torstensson says. Lesson No. 1: "If you try to make something cool, it doesn't work. What we try to stress is consistency and clarity."

Frame's collaborations with the genetically gifted, for example, began in 2013 with Kloss, who designed jeans with a 40-inch inseam for tall women like herself, and carried on with the photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the fragrance guru Ben Gorham of Byredo, and Pivovarova, whose habit of doodling on her jeans became the inspiration for Frame's embroidered denim this spring. The attitude of their designs is always unpretentious, even if an awful lot of thought does into every detail to convey a certain image.

  • How to dress when you're a tall girl

How to dress when you're a tall girl

    By Rosie Boydell, 13 May 2016 • 7:00am

At an above-average height of 5’9”, I am often exasperated by the poor offerings of ‘tall’ clothing on the high street. It seems to me that if you’re in the taller lady category, you’re also supposedly frumpy, wide and have little-to-no taste in clothing (which is just not true). There is, however, an abundance of long shapeless jumpers, baggy trousers, loose shirt dresses and midi skirts on offer. Are we supposed to be hiding away? Why are all the options so bland? Why are none of them even remotely form-fitting?I have spent a large portion of my life shopping for jeans that fit properly. Throughout my teens, there were countless tears-in-changing-rooms moments with my mum because we’d been searching for hours for jeans with a slim waist and long leg, but we had no such luck. For an industry seemingly biased towards tall, slim women, it surprises me that the clothing options available to us are so limited.

Dungarees, jumpsuits and playsuits are usually a total write-off. Thus far in my search I have found one pair of dungarees from ASOS which fit like a dream, while my endeavour for a flattering jumpsuit is ongoing.

Wearing a mini skirt verges on indecent exposure: bending over, ascending stairs and walking anywhere without having to constantly tug on the hem of said skirt are near impossible feats. The prefix of ‘maxi’ when applied to any item of clothing is practically laughable, unless you define maxi as calf/ankle length, while ‘midi’ seems to be more like knee length and, unsurprisingly, unflattering.

Luckily, there are some exceptions and, after many hours spent searching the high street and online for clothes to fit my long limbs, I have discovered a few gems out there. Though they are few in number, these products should provide a solid foundation on which to build your tall-drobe and hopefully inspire other brands to increase their tall variety.

    Shop Swedish

Upon asking fellow tall members of the fashion team for stories of their struggles, we discovered a pattern in tall shopping. “Go for viking brands,” says luxury editor Belinda White. The average Swedish woman is 5’9” which dwarfs the UK’s average of 5’3” - no wonder we struggle to find clothes to fit, we’re living in the wrong country. Clothing from brands like Cheap Monday and COS are cut longer than many of their high-street counterparts thanks to their Nordic roots.

  • How To Find Confidence And Fashion That Fits As A Tall Woman

How To Find Confidence And Fashion That Fits As A Tall Woman

    MeiMei Fox Contributor
    Women@Forbes

Amy Rosenthal stands a striking 6 foot 3 inches tall. Her sister, Alli Black, is 5 foot 10. Throughout their adult lives, they have been frustrated at being unable to find clothing that fits them appropriately. Most clothes are designed for women who stand 5 foot 3 inches. Even fashion designs that come in “tall” lengths generally are suited only for women up to 5 foot 9 inches in height. Not only that, but Black and Rosenthal have received unwanted attention due to their height since they were girls, in the form of uncomfortable comments and stares. Speaking to other tall women, they realized that this sort of societal treatment often negatively impacts confidence and self-esteem.

The sisters decided to take action. In 2014, they cofounded Amalli Talli, an online clothing retailer catering specifically to tall women. Not only are Black and Rosenthal helping tall women find clothing that fits them well, but also they are hoping to improve how such women feel about themselves. In March of 2018, they launched More Than My Height, an online platform devoted to sharing stories of their own journeys to self-acceptance as well as other positive content.

"Shopping was always a complete nightmare for me and led to bouts of tears more than once.," says Rosenthal. "It started in middle school, when I was supposed to wear khaki pants to a concert but the only potential ones long enough to fit me were from the men's section. When you can't find clothing that is both cute and well-fitting, it reinforces that idea that you aren't normal. It was another nail in the coffin of my self-confidence. For years, I hated being tall because I could never make it through a day without some comment or stare. It's very mentally draining. Even though my height provided an opportunity for me to play volleyball collegiately, I didn't learn to appreciate my body until my 30's. It then became a passion for me to change this problem for other tall girls and women, who are experiencing the same challenges."

"Imagine a shopping experience in which you were really excited to try clothes on, but when you got into the dressing room, you became depressed because nothing fit you," Black adds. "That is frustrating. But by far the biggest hurdle to jump over as a tall woman is the number of comments that strangers make about you and your body, alienating you and making you feel so different. Unfortunately, the comments never stop, even as you get older. It took the two of us many years to get comfortable and confident in our own skin. These experiences fueled our drive to leave our corporate jobs and do something. We truly have a passion for this work."

Rosenthal and Black offer these tips for coping as a tall woman:

    1. Think through responses to commonly asked questions and comments so that you can control your mindset. That way, the negativity of others won't deflate you in the moment.
    2. Find role models and a larger community to connect with so that you feel less isolated. It's never easy to go through something alone. We hear all the time from tall women how helpful it is to share their stories and experiences.
    3. Find your interests and passions in life. Discovering who you are overall as a person and achieving success through those channels breeds confidence in other parts of your life.
    4. Understand that people who have something negative to say are projecting their own insecurities onto you. Do your best to dismiss their comments, which are really just an unfortunate way for them to cope with their own demons.

As the two women behind Amalli Talli, Black and Rosenthal wear all the hats required to run the business. Rosenthal's background is in marketing, so she leads the charge in that aspect of the business. With an education in finance and accounting, Black focuses on operational strategies, including analyzing sales trends and budget allocation. Both oversee the design and production of the line.

"Our biggest purpose in designing our clothing is to help women realize that there is nothing wrong with their bodies," says Black. "It's amazing what kind of confidence we can instill in women simply by producing clothes that fit them. Hearing from our customers that they feel good about themselves and their bodies is a true joy that we will never, ever take for granted."

Rosenthal adds, "There's absolutely nothing you can do to change your height. So, it's an indescribable feeling to help tall women find love and appreciation for how they are built. That motivates and inspires us on a daily basis. It is so important to us that we play a role in helping to end the cycle of body hatred, especially starting with young girls."

The biggest challenge the Amalli Talli founders face is wanting to do it all right away even though they are only a two-person operation. Eventually, they would like to expand their fashion line beyond everyday clothing to include swimsuits, shoes, formal dresses, and athletic wear. But on the whole, they are extremely grateful to be running a business that is fully aligned with their life purpose of helping other tall women.

To others looking to tap into their life purpose, Black offers this advice. "Your life purpose may be sitting right in front of you or, as it was in our case, weaved into who you are. Follow your heart and pursue the things in life that make you the happiest. We both always loved clothing and shopping, but we never had much success at finding things that worked for us. That's how our clothing company concept was born."

"No matter which direction you go with your career, there will inevitably be challenges," says Rosenthal. "Unless you have a passion for your work, you're going to burn out or get defeated easily. Surround yourself with people who continually support and encourage you, and let go of those who don't."

  • How to Get a Custom Fashion Look for Less

How to Get a Custom Fashion Look for Less

    March 13, 2015

Not everyone can afford a handmade suit or haute couture gown, but a growing number of e-commerce websites are bringing a taste of custom to the crowds.

Many of these sites still cater to men wanting custom suits without the custom price, but there are some websites for made-to-order women’s clothing, too.

Jennifer Lezan, an adjunct professor in the fashion department at The Illinois Institute of Art in suburban Chicago, said the biggest plus of these sites is affordability.

“You get a little taste of custom-made … It gives you something a little different from the everyday, mundane ‘I have the same thing that this guy got at Kohl’s,’” she said.

For men, sites like Indochino and Black Lapel offer several varieties of suit and shirt styles that allow for some customization such as lapels and linings. The websites show men how to take measurements (they suggest someone else wield the tape measure) to get the fit. It takes roughly six weeks for orders to be completed. To give you an idea, wool suit coats on Indochino start at $449, and a pair of pants at $159. Black Lapel suits start at $549. Shirts start at $79 at Indochino and at $109 at Black Lapel.

For women, one popular retailer is direct-to-consumer brand eShakti, which sells mostly casual clothing. eShakti allows shoppers to customize clothing by size, and also offers custom styling of the neckline, sleeve, and length of its pieces for an additional $7.50 to the base price. Prices range between $40 and $150, with orders processed in 14 business days.

“Each woman's height, size, and shape combination is unique, and in turn, how well a garment fits her depends on it being made to suit all three,” said BG Krishnan, founder and chief executive officer of eShakti.

Women who want made-to-order suits can find separate pieces tailored to them at Moi-Meme.

Most women’s ready-made suits are sold with matching jackets and pants or skirts, and may not always fit right. It was this issue that caused Dawn Verbrigghe to start Moi-Meme. In 2007 she opened a New York showroom measuring women, and recently moved to be completely online.  A database of measurements helped her create the many patterns that Moi-Meme now offers, she said.

The website offers choices by clothing type or body shape, and customers can pick styles, fabrics, and button choices. Moi-Meme also sends swatches to potential clients so they can feel and see the fabric before ordering. Costs depend on fabric type; prices start at $130 for shirts, and run up to $495 for the highest-end jackets, with orders shipping within four weeks. Verbrigghe said the most popular items are the more conservative choices—the pencil skirt (starting at $175), straight-leg pants ($195 and up), and two-button Torino jacket ($295 and higher).

“In some industries it’s only appropriate to wear a suit, and that’s our bread-and-butter customer. In addition to interview suits, we’re also seeing a pickup in suits for women who are getting married to other women,” she said.

Nie wieder zu kurz kommen! - Tall Fashion

I LOVE TALL hält Einzug in der Steinstraße 25, mitten in Hamburg-Altstadt.

I LOVE TALL hält Einzug in der Steinstraße 25, mitten in Hamburg-Altstadt.
