Houd er rekening mee dat sommige merken een Franse maatbalk aanhouden (maat 33, 34, 35, etc) en andere merken een Engelse maatbalk (size 1, 2, 3, etc.). Als u schoenen op maat gaat zoeken, kunt u het beste beide maatsoorten selecteren.

I just read some reviews on Amazon.com regarding a shoe company named Onlymaker. Most of the reviews were negative, to say the least. Most of the shoes aren't on the cheap side but the quality seems to be lacking. I must admit I'm not a big fan of products made in China generally but clothing and footwear are an even more delicate matter. You need to know what kind of materials are being used - especially if you are allergic to specific components. Hence my advice: Beware of items made in China...

I have a rare physical abnormality, an abnormality not recognized by the medical community, but instead by the fashion industry: I have giant feet. While most women in the united states wear a size 7 or 8, and some even hit 9 or 10, I wear a size 12 women's shoe. And while my height, 5'11″, helps to offset the peculiar largeness of my feet, keep in mind that I've worn the same size shoe since I was 5'4″. I also have large hands. Large enough to quite easily palm a man's basketball. Had I lived in a time when dainty gloves were a requirement, I would have been sent off to live in a community of others like me. Others who until recently had to face the constant despair of never being able to shoe shop "off the rack".

In 1978 Dawne Gutteridge opened CRISPINS Shoes in Chiltern Street ,London W1, specialising in elegant shoes for larger sizes and named it appropriately after St Crispins, the patron saint of shoemakers.

Canadian born, Dawne came to England in the 1960s and settled happily in London. She shortly came across a problem she had not encountered back home. In England she could not find fashionable shoes to fit her size 9 feet. In total frustration and “virtually bare-foot”, she decided to tackle the problem herself.

Initially shoe manufactures were dubious and did not believe there was a market for fashionable quality shoes over size 8. It was an uphill struggle, but gradually she persuaded their designers to make beautiful shoes in Crispins’ larger sizes.

Research proved there were vast numbers of women and young girls with long feet who had never been able to find well-designed shoes in larger sizes…

Since those early days Crispins has flourished.
